FRASHER, Ray Patrick "Butch", 65, of Richmond, Virginia, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, departed this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. We never got a chance to say a final goodbye to Ray, but we can see him in everyone's eyes. He was loved by many and will be missed immensely, and will always be remembered as Rabbit, Teflon, Razor, Grease Pencil, and many others to those who knew him. Ray was born in Waynesboro, Va. on October 5, 1942. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Patrick Frasher; and his sister, Patsy Frasher Robins. He is survived by his soul mate, best friend, and wife of 13 years, Patricia (Pat) Chewning Frasher; his mother, Evelyn Juanita Jones Frasher; his sister, Vicki Frasher Cornett and husband, Bill Cornett; his favorite mother-in-law, Marietta Chewning; and brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Bailey Robins. Uncle Ray will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Rick and Ruth Robins, and children, Evelyn and Tripp; David and Hue O'Brien, and daughter, Vi; Beth O'Brien, and daughters, Molly and Eve; Mason Chewning; Gregg and Melissa Chewning Ryman; and Hayden Chewning. Ray served his country in the U.S. Navy and piloted a landing craft. He was HVAC certified and was employed by Richmond City Schools. He was formerly employed by Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority and Stuart Circle Hospital, where he met his wife, Pat. He also worked for Wen-Don Corporation. He served as a motorcycle safety instructor and taught countless numbers of bikers to ride safely. He was an avid Harley rider and served as Director of Richmond H.O.G. and held various offices in H.O.G. chapters around the state, and was a current member of South Richmond H.O.G. He was an ardent outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and shooting. He was a member of Tuckahoe Square Dancing and loved Civil War history. He was even a Commissioned Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Ray was one in a million with a love of life who always smiled. A "Ray of Sunshine" Memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, with a eulogy delivered by Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling. Following the memorial service, Pat will be receiving friends at her home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's name to Lakeside Rescue Squad, 2007 Timberlake Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23228.Published in Richmond Times-Dispatch from December 15 to December 16, 2007
